Photographers from Ptuj developed a service for biometric verification

• The first Slovenian information solution for remote biometric user verification.

• Ensuring the highest level of trust for all services that currently require personal identification in the office or with an agent (banks, insurance companies, telecommunications, electricity companies, etc.).

• Lower costs and simpler business operations for both providers and
consumers.

PTUJ, January 24, 2023 - Slovenian providers of digital services withthe highest level of trust can rely on a domestic provider when imple-menting remote biometric authentication. E-RASTA has officially in-troduced the first Slovenian information solution for remote biometricauthentication Verified by Photko. This is entirely the result of Slove-nian knowledge of biometric photography and mastering the develop-ment of modern information solutions based on artificial intelligence.Verified by Photko is intended for digital service providers who requirepersonal identification when concluding subscriber relationships, for example in financial institutions, telecommunications and energycompanies, in educational and other public institutions, notarial ser-vices, online gambling, sharing economy services, and similar. It en-ables them to offer their customers a secure and trustworthy remoteauthentication during the registration process without physically visit-ing the branch office.

“We are proud to be the first in Slovenia and one of the five compa-nies in the European Union to have developed our own service forremote biometric authentication. The Verified by Photko service isbased on our first innovation, the Photko service, with which mobilephone users can take a biometric photo for personal identification,”said Rado Stropnik, director and co-founder of E-RASTA, Ltd.

The Verified by Photko service enables digital service providers toeasily implement the “know your customer” approach (KYC). This isan approach that banks have introduced to manage risks related tomoney laundering, terrorism financing, and other corrupt activities.Remote biometric authentication, which replaces physical visits to thebranch office or authorized agent at home, is increasingly used byother providers who require personal identification to conclude a deal. The KYC approach is also increasingly used to provide zero trust, not only for registration in digital services but also for signing up andduring their use.

Given the introduction of the KYC approach abroad, Slovenian pro-viders of commercial digital services, such as banks, can also expectup to a 26% reduction in operating costs and up to a 15% increase inrevenue.

“In addition to the direct business effects, secure biometric authenti-cation also enables service providers to change their business model.Companies and public institutions simplify their business with theircustomers by eliminating physical personal identification, reorganiz-ing their operations, and offering a range of new products that werenot possible before,” Stropnik emphasized.

In the development of the Verified by Photko service, E-RASTA de-voted a lot of attention to ease of use in information solutions for dig-ital services. The inclusion of a new business user is carried out in afew minutes. According to their estimates, installation and integrationinto the user’s information solution, including testing, should not takemore than one working week.
